Arthur Schlossbach for Asbury Park City Council

Business and residents working together for a better Asbury Park

As a business owner, father, and political activist, I have lived first-hand through the many changes our community has faced over the last several years. After careful consideration and encouragement from friends and fellow business owners, I have decided to run for Asbury Park City Council. It is my hope that my innovative ideas and modern solutions will help me continue to serve our neighborhood in the best way possible, and the need for a strong business person on the city council.

Of equal importance are the other amenities necessary to make our neighbourhood more liveable. We need to find ways to make our streets cleaner, more pedestrian friendly, and with better parking. We also need to encourage government agencies to help the 340 plus small business owners get thru the problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

My family has been an intricate part of Asbury’s growth since 1888. I opened my first business when I was a senior at Asbury Park high school back in the 70’s, I also volunteer as a APPD COP officer, work with Asbury Dinner Table food project, delivering food to families in my neighbourhood every night .I mentor small business owners and people that want to open a small business thru the Small Business Administration’s Monmouth county chapter of SCORE, with over 100 clients over the last 8 years.

I have always been active in politics. I worked closely with various Democratic political organizations.  As a member of Senator Vin Gopal’s District 11 Small Business Council, the City of Asbury Parks Small Business Committee and Assemblypersons Eric Houghtaling and Joann Downing’s re-election campaign.  Immediately after 9/11, I helped served as a member of several groups seeking to restore, revitalize and clean up the downtown WTC area around the WTC site and the downtown area where I lived, and had two business, I was appointed by the Manhattan Boro President to Community Board 1. And started Two non-profits that I started, “From the Ground Up” and “The Tribeca Organization” (founders of the Tribeca Film festival), demonstrate my strong record of community service. I am dedicated to clearly speak to my dedication to Asbury Park and  to those I would serve.

In order to succeed in my effort to become Councilman, I need the support of my friends, family and neighbours in Asbury Park. I cannot do this alone. It is my sincere hope that you will join me in this campaign as a volunteer, a donor, a friend.
